Classroom Overview

RSM Christian School Junior Kindergarteners begin each day with pledges, prayers, calendar overview, and Bible. They continue their morning enjoying music and movement instruction, followed by a variety of tabletop and center activities that incorporate phonics, math, science, and social science instruction. On various days of the week, physical education, music, library, and chapel are also included. Each day at school concludes with prayer. RSM Christian School is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). All JK teachers are Christians and have training in Early Childhood Education.

Spiritual & Social

  • 20 minutes, 4 days per week (3 days for 3-day JK)

  • Emphasis on studying Bible stories from both the Old and New Testaments, especially fruits of the Spirit and character traits.

  • Emphasis on encouraging Bible reading and memorization. Students memorize and recite different Bible verses. Children are taught that the Bible reveals God’s plan for living wisely and righteously and learn how to apply Bible truths to their everyday lives.

  • Focus on introducing students to a structured classroom setting, encouraging good classroom and playground behavior, developing study habits, as well as instilling academic and social responsibilities that will serve students through their school years and beyond.

  • Emphasis on making the bridge from home to school and on developing self-help skills.

  • Encouragement of positive behavior through “Saint Awards” – awards given out in front of peers to recognize and reward exceptional behavior at home and school.

Social Science:

  • 2 days per week
