No school today or tomorrow (Oct. 1 & 2). While our students are home, our teachers are spending these two days learning and growing through Teaching for Transformation (TfT) professional development.
What does that mean for your child?
It means more intentional learning experiences that help students connect classroom learning with their faith, God-given gifts, and the world around them. Through TfT, our teachers are learning practical ways to make everyday lessons more meaningful, helping students think deeply, ask important questions, and see how their learning can be used to serve God and others.
These two days are an investment in our teachers, and ultimately, in your child and their classroom experience every day. 💙

Meet Us Monday 💙
This week, meet Mrs. Roberta Nyce, our STEM teacher!
Now in her fifth year at RSMCS, Mrs. Nyce loves inspiring students to use the creative minds God gave them to solve problems. Whether they’re building something with their hands or creating with technology, she hopes students experience the joy that comes from bringing a new idea to life.
One of her favorite things about the RSMCS community is knowing there is always someone to share both joys and burdens with, and someone who will stop and pray with you through both.

Our Pre-K scientists made apple volcanoes! 🍎 Their excitement bubbled over as they mixed ingredients, watched the reaction, and discovered that big science ideas can begin with a little apple and....little people.

Oh- there they are!
We love Wednesdays and so do our JH students. Weekly chapels are a time when our students have a chance to be still, reset and refresh with the Lord for the rest of the week. Thank you to pastor @caleboddo for teaching today on the importance of “our firm foundation”.

Mission to Mars is underway! 🚀 Our junior high STEM students had one challenge: move their circle together while keeping the markers balanced using only their index fingers. It took communication, coordination, and plenty of teamwork!
STEM is one of many electives our 7th and 8th graders can choose from at RSMCS. It’s one more opportunity our elementary students can look forward to as they grow through the grades.

Meet Us Monday 💙
This week, meet Mrs. Jenny Vande Wydeven, one of our 3rd Grade teachers!
Now in her 11th year at RSMCS, Mrs. Vande says she loves being with her students, sharing Jesus with them, and watching them discover their part in God’s story. More than anything, she hopes every student in her classroom feels loved and accepted.
Her favorite thing about RSMCS? That we are a family and genuinely care for one another.

More than 40 years of faithful service. Generations of students. Countless lives touched. 💙
Last week, our RSM Christian School community had the privilege of celebrating Mrs. Gulino and the incredible legacy she leaves after more than four decades of faithfully serving the Lord through Christian education.
We worshiped together, shared memories, gave thanks, and then surrounded her with one final all-school clap-out filled with cheers, handmade signs, hugs, smiles, and plenty of tears.
Mrs. Gulino, thank you for the countless ways you have loved, served, encouraged, and poured into our students, families, faculty, and staff through the years. Your impact is woven into the story of RSM Christian School, and we are so grateful for the legacy you leave behind.

This week, meet Mrs. Yvonne Erkelens, our K-8 Spanish Teacher!
Mrs. Erkelens has been at RSMCS for 24 years and loves sharing the beauty of God’s diverse world with her students and helping them use Spanish to connect meaningfully with others. More than anything, she hopes her students grow in the courage to speak Spanish while learning with curiosity and reflecting Christ’s love wherever God leads them.
One of her favorite things about the RSMCS community? The ongoing smiles and hugs.

Her favorite Scripture is Psalm 121:1-2, and here’s something you may not know about her: English is actually her third language, after German and Spanish!

25 years later, we remember.
This morning, our entire RSM Christian School community gathered in remembrance of September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation.
We remembered the lives that were lost. We honored the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away. We remembered the ordinary citizens who, in extraordinary moments, showed remarkable courage, compassion, and selflessness.
Our students were not yet born when the events of September 11 unfolded. But we believe some stories must continue to be told.
We teach them to remember.
To honor courage.
To recognize sacrifice.
To be grateful for those who serve.
To love their neighbors.
To pray for our country.
And to understand that even in the darkest moments, the light of God’s love is never overcome.
We were deeply honored to welcome members of our local law enforcement community, along with Mayor Tony Beall, City Councilman Brad McGirr, City Councilwoman Keri Lynn Baert, and City Planning Commissioner Josh Bastian, as they joined us for this meaningful morning of remembrance.
Our own Mrs. Rhonda Clark led our students and guests in “God Bless America,” and following the ceremony, parents gathered together in community to connect, pray, and remember.
Twenty-five years have passed, but we will not forget.
May we continue raising a generation that understands the value of courage, service, sacrifice, faith, and loving one another well.

Tomorrow morning, we invite our RSM Christian School families to join us for a special Patriots’ Day Ceremony as we come together in gratitude and prayer. 🇺🇸
We especially invite parents who are first responders, serve in law enforcement, or are active or former military to join us as we recognize and honor those who serve our communities and our country.
All RSMCS parents are invited to stay after morning lines and join us as we pray over our first responders, city officials, military families, and our nation.

Worship doesn’t only happen in Chapel. 💙
At RSM Christian School, faith is woven into the everyday moments of learning, growing, and being together.
Sometimes that looks like an all-school Chapel in the sanctuary. And sometimes it looks like a classroom full of first graders lifting their voices in worship right in the middle of their school day. 🙌
Because worship isn’t just something we schedule. It’s part of who we are.

Our Pre-K class made their own special bracelets, with each colorful bead representing an important part of their classroom community: kindness, respect, being exactly who God created them to be, celebrating differences, sticking together, and working hard. What a colorful—and beautiful—way to begin the school year!

Meet Us Monday is here! 💙
Each Monday, we’ll introduce you to one of the teachers and staff members who make RSM Christian School such a special place. It’s a chance to get to know a little more about the people who teach, encourage, serve, and care for our students each day.
And we’re kicking things off with Mrs. Sloan Gonzales, one of our wonderful First Grade teachers!
Now in her third year at RSMCS, Mrs. Gonzales says one of the things she loves most about teaching is getting to share Jesus with her students while helping them develop a love for learning.
When asked what she hopes her students experience in her classroom, her answer was simple and meaningful: Jesus’ love.
Her favorite part of RSMCS? The community! She loves the staff, students, and families who make our school what it is.

There’s something special about being back together. 💙
We began our first day of school gathered as one RSMCS family in all-school chapel, worshiping together and setting our hearts on the One who will lead us through the year ahead.
Three days in, the classrooms are buzzing, friendships are reconnecting, new ones are beginning, and campus feels like home again.
What a gift to learn, grow, worship, and do life together.
